How I Came To Be A Master Bee Bookkeeper
I have been in love with numbers since I was 10 when my dad gave me a challenge to find a .50 error on the church books. The old hand-crank adding machine and the physical ledger books with handwritten penciled entries were the tools. I worked hard, found the error and so my adventure with numbers began.
In terms of my background, I graduated Beta Gamma Sigma at the University of Oregon with a BA degree in Finance in 1980, moved to Seattle area and got my CIA Certification. At that point, I was an Internal Auditor for International company.
Eventually, I started out on my own as a bookkeeper when my son was small to gain more flexibility with my time. He is now 29, living on a sail boat and exploring his passions in life. As a mom, it gives me both incentive and a good model to explore my passions as well.
As hard as it may be for others to comprehend, I get fulfillment from is helping people with their numbers, which are often the least favorite thing for people to pay attention to or even understand.
Because time is the most precious asset any of us have during our lifetime, it should be spent doing what we love. When my clients live their passion, and hire me to handle their bookkeeping, it allows me to live two of my passions – working with numbers and helping people.
